The Harry H. Laidlaw Jr. Honey Bee Biology Research Facility at UC Davis is one of the largest and most comprehensive apiculture facilities in North America and currently focused on solving the declining populations of the honey bee. Honey bees support one third of our food supply, pollinating more than 100 crops including vegetables, fruits and nuts.
Over the last few years more than 25% of the honey bee population has disappeared, which causes a serious concern for our food production. Researchers are not currently sure why this is happening, but It is only through scientific research that we will identify the factors causing the Colony Collapse Disorder. This is a serious concern for society and we are proud to be a part of the solution.
